US telecommuting is saving the amount of energy consumed by 1 million households, while e-commerce is yielding slight energy gains, according to a new electronics industry report.

The analysis commissioned by the Consumer Electronics Association found net benefits to the use of electronic devices like laptop computers and networking devices that enable workers to avoid commuting to an office.
