NASA scientist calls for dramatically lower greenhouse gas levels

Researchers assert that current CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere are already too high and suggest solutions

A draft scientific paper by NASA climate scientist James Hansen suggests that the safe sustained atmospheric concentration of CO2 is around 350 parts per million, a level which was already exceeded back in 1988.  While earlier estimates of safe greenhouse gas levels had also already been exceeded, the lower levels suggested by the new research bring even more urgency to the task of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing gas capture and storage.
