NH town to generate renewable electricity from landfill gas, wind
Town hopes plan will help ease economic stress
The town of Colebrook, located in an economically stressed region in northern New Hampshire, has set plans in motion for a turnkey project with Pennsylvania Power and Light to generate electricity from landfill gas. The electricity will then be sold to Public Service of New Hampshire and the associated renewable energy credits will be sold on the open market. The town will receive a percentage of the profits and intends to use the funds to help finance a wind generation project at the same site. The town also plans to use the heat from the generation process to heat a greenhouse.
